cats and crocheting

I've been crocheting some lately, still working on that blanket I started earlier this year. Every time I pull the blanket and yarn out, the cats come out of hiding to give a helping hand. After they join me, I can usually only finish crocheting the row I'm on, because I feel too guilty moving them to rotate directions.

Here's a link to yet another cat on this crocheted blanket checking it out in the future.

pseudo sewing

wedding invitation wraps
wedding bubbles

The picture to the right is of little paper wraps that go around my wedding invitations. The hubby-to-be and I decided we wanted little bows on the front of them, so I had to use a needle to thread the ribbon through the paper, and then tie them. This is the closest thing to sewing that I've done in awhile!

The picture on the left is of bubbles, with a simple bow on them. We aren't allowed to used birdseed/rice/flower petals or pretty much anything else at our ceremony site so yeah. (now that I think of it... I guess I should double check on these too... oh well, already done)

new(ish) fabric

Wow, it's been awhile... I haven't been sewing much lately, as other things (started a new semester, house maintenance, and upcoming wedding stuff) have been taking up more of my time. But, I did have some luck a week or so ago at the fabric store. This was a huge surprise to me, because I can rarely find fabric. Much of my problem with not finding suitable fabric is that I won't buy it unless it's on an insane sale, bringing it down to a buck or two per yard. This usually puts me in the clearance and remnant sections which are generally well picked over before my arrival.

new fabric

The blue fabric in the middle of this picture photographed kind of funny, in person, it does not appear to have that much of a pattern to it, it's actually pretty subtle. The fabric on the right was also a remnant, so there isn't too much of it. That's ok though, because it looks kind of "loud" to me now so I should keep it to something smaller anyways. I also picked up a shaded red fabric with little dog footprints on it which was a remnant. (I took a separate picture of it, because it looked weird with these fabrics, but the pic didn't turn out)

I guess it should be no surprise, now that I've stocked up on patterns and found some fabric, none of them can be used together :) Oh well, as Tim Gunn would say, "Make it work"

Hopefully these fabrics will make an appearance again soon, but in a different form! Some of the fabric on the left became this shirt
