Simplicity 2250 bodice

Well, my sewing machine lasted long enough to complete the bodice of Simplicity 2250, lets hope it keeps going strong :)

I'm not sure if I did this right... it looks a little wonky right now.  Maybe once it's lined it will look better?  (guess who forgot to buy lining... it may be awhile before I get back to town, ugh)

Current project (Simplicity 2250)

When I laid eyes on the Simplicity 2250 pattern, it was love at first site.  Now that my machine is up and running again (I hope...) I can finally try this pattern out.

I started working on view A, and surprise surprise... after sewing 2 darts... my machine freaked out and I was pretty sure it was a goner.  I tried some simple fixes from the manual, and no luck.  But somehow it magically was working again the next day.  Fingers crossed that it won't happen again.

All of my little assistants have adjusted to our addition, so I'll have more time for sewing (assuming my machine agrees with that)

fabric etc.

Believe it or not... I'm still removing the tissue paper texture from my spare bedroom walls.  It's been over a month of peeling away at this stuff.  Granted it has been done little by little.  It'll be awhile yet until I can scrub the walls, prime, paint, and reassemble everything.

BUT, I made it to the fabric store yesterday and am pretty excited!  I ended up buying material for 2 dresses.  One of the dresses is a Cynthia Rowley sewing pattern I've been wanting to make, the other dress I'll be winging...

Posts on those projects soon

On a side note, I have a new assistant... Hubby and I adopted another dog.  She's super sweet, but can be a handful!

Painting...

I'm still here!  Just haven't been sewing/crafting much lately.  Hubby & I changed decorations around in our house, making a rather loudly painted spare room not so pretty any more (the color worked with the old decor... not the new).

I had originally textured the walls of that room with crumpled tissue paper, and after priming over all the walls before repainting, some spots of the tissue paper tore a bit.  I probably should have just patched those areas (I loved the texture) but instead decided it'd be best to take it all off the walls.

It's a much bigger ordeal than I thought.  I'm still taking the paper down, little by little... I'll be back to sewing soon I hope!

New Blanket (in progress)

Here my little assistant models the blanket I recently started crocheting...

This blanket is a super simple pattern: all double crochet stitches.  I have a more detailed baby blanket in progress too, but I needed something for the days I don't feel like thinking that hard :)
